Research Interest

The regulation of cerebral blood flow is of critical importance to the developing fetus in utero, as well as to the newborn infant and adult. In addition, acclimatization to high altitude long-term hypoxia alters the vascular regulatory mechanisms. My laboratory explores the fundamental cellular signal transduction mechanisms that regulate tone in the cerebral vasculature, their change with development, and in response to acclimatization to hypoxia. We also are attempting to understand the basic molecular mechanisms that regulate these changes with development and in response to hypoxia.
