Get Noticed with Practical Research Experience at Loma Linda University's Center for Health Disparities and Molecular Medicine
Loma Linda University's Undergraduate Training Program (UTP) is a nine-week summer research internship for undergraduate college and university students.
2025 Summer Program Dates: June 16- July 31
The internship focuses on giving students practical lab research experience alongside distinguished faculty, while providing mentorship in support of their future academic and research goals.
The program supports our mission to eliminate health disparities and increase the number of basic biomedical and physician scientists from diverse backgrounds involved in research.
More than 230 undergraduate students have participated in Loma Linda University's UTP program since 2001 representing colleges and universities across the nation. Our students consistently go on to pursue their studies at Loma Linda University or other top tier universities around the country.

UTP Program Overview
During the training program, students work in a research lab at the Center for Health Disparities and Molecular Medicine under the direction of a selected research faculty mentor. UTP internship students will work on a research project and present their findings during the Health Disparities Research Symposium at the end of the training period.
Undergraduates in the program will have numerous valuable educational opportunities, including:
- Scientific mentoring by world renowned scientists
- Participation in scientific seminars and lectures
- Educational enrichment activities
- Participation in our Health Disparities Research Symposium
- Opportunities to attend national meetings to make scientific presentations
