Students from Loma Linda University School of Medicine's class of 2025 took their first steps to becoming physicians during the White Coat Ceremony on Thursday, July 29, 2021. Below are student reflections about what their white coat means to them.
The hard work, and years of sacrifice from my parents to give me opportunities they never had. Both of my parents are immigrants, who migrated from Jamaica after getting married in hopes of a better life. My white coat is as much my family’s accomplishment as it is mine because of how much they poured into me."
- De’Andre Brown, Class of 2025
Accepting the challenge, privilege, and honor to learn medicine. Pursuing a demanding yet fulfilling career as a physician that will become a significant part of my identity.
- Charis Courtney, Class of 2025
As an immigrant from Ghana with limited possibilities of becoming a physician, the white coat reminds me of how far the Lord has brought me. It is a true reflection of all the several individuals that have been a part of my journey.
