The Women in Surgery and Anesthesiology (WiSA) Committee continually supports the Loma Linda student chapter of the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS). WiSA members have provided career development workshops, clinical exposure, mentorship, and networking opportunities to Loma Linda University School of Medicine students interested in pursuing surgical and surgically-related specialties. Dr. Esther Yung is a current WiSA member and the Loma Linda AWS chapter faculty advisor.
The Loma Linda Chapter of the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) is a student-led and faculty-sponsored club that aims to foster increased student interest in surgical specialties. It is a community of students and physician mentors that highlights issues unique to the woman surgeon's journey and celebrates the resilience of women surgeons who have and continue to excel despite existing gender disparities.
