Clinical Rotations will begin in late September, following successful completion of the didactic portion of the program. Rotations are completed the following year in late September.

The year-long Clinical Rotation Schedule is distributed at the Clinical Orientation, given in late August. This orientation covers the Clinical Handbook (which contains information pertinent to each clinical site, as well as program and university expectations and rules), a brief overview of each clinical site, and Pathology Review (the year-long course which reviews didactic information and prepares the students for the ASCP exam).

An outgrowth of the original Sanitarium on the hill in 1905, the present 11-story Loma Linda University Medical Center opened on July 9, 1967. The responsibilities of the Coroner Division are many and complex. By state law, it is the duty of the Coroner Division to inquire and determine the circumstances, manner and cause of death (COD) for cases that fall within the Coroner’s jurisdiction.  These deaths include suspected homicide, suicide, or accidental deaths.  These also include natural deaths were there is no physician to sign the death certificate or the physician is legally prohibited from doing so.  Additionally, other certain causes of death are also mandated to be investigated.
