Invitation to Apply for Senior Rotations
Loma Linda University School of Medicine welcomes elective applications from students in good standing in their senior year of medicine at AAMC Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accredited institutions. Students in their senior year at osteopathic schools of medicine accredited by the Committee on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association are also invited to apply.
Please note that we are unable to accept applications or make elective placements for students enrolled in foreign medical schools.
All applications from students in LCME-accredited medical schools and COCA-accredited osteopathic schools of medicine must be submitted through the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO). Paper applications and email requests will not be accepted.
Availability of rotations cannot be confirmed by telephone. Students are instructed not to call or email individual departments or faculty. ALL elective requests must be scheduled through VSLO.
- Students will be notified by the visiting student coordinator through VSLO within 4 weeks if space is available.
- Students are allowed to submit only 3 date choices total.
- Placement in a rotation will not be finalized until all required documents and a $250.00 processing fee are received by our office.
Incomplete applications will not be processed. Availability of rotations cannot be confirmed by telephone. Students are instructed not to call or email individual departments or faculty. ALL elective requests must be scheduled through VSLO.
Below are links to information regarding electives available at Loma Linda University and the elective schedule. LLU requires a criminal background check on all visiting students. If your application is accepted and you have not had a criminal background check completed in the past two years, you will be required to submit a current background check. Students will not be allowed to begin a rotation until the criminal background check has been completed and verified. Students from COCA-accredited schools must have received a COMLEX Level 1 passing score, or a USMLE Step 1 passing on first attempt.
All applications must be received at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the requested rotation. No application will be considered if received less than 7 days prior to the requested start date. A non-refundable $250.00 processing fee in the form of cashier’s check or money order must be received at least 7 days prior to the start of the requested rotation.
