MITHS is a transformative three-week pre-college experience designed to introduce Black Seventh-day Adventist high school students to careers in the health sciences.
Minority Introduction to the Health Sciences (MITHS) is a program at Loma Linda University in Southern California that offers an interactive experience, introducing senior high school students to fields like medicine, dentistry, nursing, physical therapy, pharmacy, behavioral health, public health, allied health, and healthcare administration. It provides valuable insights into what to expect in college, fostering a strong foundation for future success in healthcare.
To best prepare students for higher education in these careers, a focus on enhancing test-taking skills in anatomy and physiology, mathematics, reading comprehension and writing is implemented throughout the program. Students will be able to listen to courses taught by faculty from LLU, tour the hospital and simulation center, and learn the fundamentals of professions in the health sciences.
